Happy Independence Day ‘Merica
🇷🇺GOP Delegation to Russia🇷🇺
After months of negotiations with Britain over the 1774 Intolerable Acts, also know as the Coercive Acts, the 13 American Colonies via the Continental Congress assembled in Philadelphia, PA. At which tim Richard Henry Lee (yes most people forget this fact) offered a “Resolution for Independence to the Committee of the Whole at the Second Continental Congress”.
His resultion reads in part:
“that these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States, that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain is, and ought to be, totally dissolved."
Richard Henry Lee’s Resolution was seconded by John Adams and on July 2, 1776 adopted and two days later on July 4, 1776 The Declaration of Independence was formally ratified.
Sidebar, in John Adams July 1776 Letter to his wife Abigail he cited July 2, 1776 as the day The Declaration of Independence occurred. Our National Archives has a wonderful treasure trove of historical documents, as does the Massachusetts Historical Society, where you can read the original John Adams letter.
This sparked a decades long debate between Adams and Thomas Jefferson on what the actual date of our Country’s Independence. In an inronic yet symmetrical twist both Adams and Jefferson died on July 4, 1826, exactly 50 years on the Anniversary of our Country’s Declaration of Independence.

In an unanimous vote, all thirteen Colonies voted in the affirmative to formally declare our Independence from Britain. I think sometimes we forget the eloquence and monumentous impact of our Country’s Declaration of Independence.
And yes, occasionally I like to go back to basics. I do this to remind myself that many have died and fought for our Country, This reinforces that our Freedom and Liberty should never be taken for granted. In re-reading the words of our Founding Fathers, it makes me appreciate what they envisioned for our Country.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.
And granted at the time, clearly our Founding Fathers said this about the King of Britain, but it could easily describe the current ocvupant of our House, the White House:
The Declaration of Independence goes on to say, (yes this passage made the hair on the back of my neck stand up) because the uncanny parallels speak to me...

With that brief history lesson, can someone please explain to me why and on what parallel universe does sending a GOP Large Delegation to Russia on July 4tn make any sense at all? From an optics standpoint you have to wonder what the heck is the Trump Administration thinking? Oh wait...never mind.

What is astounding to me is a sitting US Senator “visiting” Russia, you know the Country that interfered in our 2016 Presidential Election, would say the following to his Russian Host, via this CBS Report, found here:
In which Sen “NEW DAY” Shelby expressed a clear desire to improve relations with Russia:
"will be the beginning, maybe, of a new day."...We will have to wait and see, and go from there, but we recognize that the world is better off, I believe, if Russia and the U.S. have fewer tensions”

Personally I’ve always liked Hoeven, particularly his close friendship with Senator McCain. In April of 2017 I started noticing a significant change in Senator Hoeven’s public positions on matters regarding China and Russia. Up until April of 2017 you could actually argue that Sen Hoeven was hawkish and was thought of as a man of decent ideas but National Security was paramount. He went so far as to call upon his fellow GOP Senate Colleagues to pass law that would require America to increase our oil production and exporting of our oil.
For example in April 2014 Sen Hoeven went on the record with The-Hill-Newspaper and said this about the Gasprom deal:
‘This gives Russia another option. It strengthens their hand vis-à-vis what they decide to do in Eastern Europe,”
And it makes it even more imperative that we advance our legislation to allow exports of LNG (liquefied natural gas) to Europe so that they have alternative sources.”

Sen Kennedy, who by all Measures appears to be on the total up & up.
Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) described the meetings as “damn frank, very very very frank, no holds barred.”
“I asked our friends in Russia not to interfere in our elections this year,” Kennedy said. “I asked them to exit Ukraine and allow Ukraine to self-determine. I asked for the same thing in Crimea. I asked for their help in bringing peace to Syria. And I asked them not to allow Iran to gain a foothold in Syria.”
