Another Dead Russian
According to Kommersant, Igor Malashenko was “found dead” in Spain earlier today. At the time of this write up details are fairly sparse surrounding Mr. Malashenko “death”. However you can already see various Russian state run media outlets (like TASS, Sputnik etc) aggressively positioning Mr Malashenko “untimely death” was a result of suicide...
Mr. Malashenko headed the pre-election headquarters of the TV presenter Ksenia Sochak, who ran for the president of Russia in 2018.
It should be be noted that in the past few decades Malashenko had, at times been vociferous critic of “state run media”... as a founder and former CEO NTV, he often expressed his frustration. Incidentally in the late 1990’s he was a senior advisor to Boris Yeltsin. This 1994 Ad Age article is one of the more thorough articles about Mr Malashenko, USSR, Media and challenges he faced:
There, he says, he learned "what not to do" in the job, which he quit in February 1993, frustrated with the constrictions of a state-funded network. Even now, he is bitter. "It's post-totalitarian TV created under the Soviet system and still a part of the post-Soviet system. It should disappear."
Shortly thereafter Mr Malashenko emigrated to America, circa 2000 and set up “shop” in New York City, see 2004 NYC ACRIS link, found here, it also appears in September of 2017 Malashenko started transferring his various real estate holdings into a corporation, found here.
GOP Tax SCAM
according to last Friday’s IRS Report, the highly praised Republican Tax SCAM, damnit I mean tax plan is exactly what many feared it would be. A massive give away to the very 1%, meanwhile everyday Americans like you and me are now starting to see their scam actualized. The average Tax Refund is down a whooping 38.8% because nothing says fiscal responsibility like adding trillions to the deficit while reaching deep in to the pockets of the Middle Class. #ThanksTrump
And sure the Republicans might argue in the margins that the economy is booming but the facts presented by the IRS show that tax refunds are down by >16% this isn’t opinion these figures are pulled straight from the IRS weekly report. Frankly if the economy was really booming then why does the White House refuse to address wage stagnation?
Sexual Predator in chief sued, again
When you see a plaintiff listed as:
ALVA JOHNSON, Individually and On Behalf of All Others Similarly
Understand that’s a precursor to a potential class action. Meaning that Ms Johnson is purposefully leaving the door open to “others” to join her Complaint. Granted the assumption there is Ms Johnson’s Complaint survives the predictable Motion to Dismiss. And an argument is persuasive enough for a Judge to “certify a class”...
Case 8:19-cv-00475-WFJ-SPF - found here and let’s be honest the opening arguements set forth are...eyebrow raising.
President of the United States, Defendant Donald J. Trump, accountable for his sexually predatory conduct
Defendant Trump, however, Ms. Johnson was nothing more than a
sexual object he felt entitled to dominate and humiliate. Like he has done with so many other women, Defendant Trump violated norms of decency and privacy by kissing Ms. Johnson on the lips without
her consent in the middle of a Florida work event and in front of numerous other Campaign officials.
What I find odd and actually telling, on page 1 paragraph 2 they specifically omitted Trump’s “grab them by the pussy”...further in paragraph 3 there’s something you might overlook. Ms Johnson invokes “highly successful African American Woman”. The disclosure that this unwanted sexual assault occurred in front of other Trump Campaign staffers is also important as this implies there are multiple witnesses.
My assumption is her legal team is setting forth a predicate for a “protected class” status. I could be wrong but that’s specific disclosure tends to be a beacon of future legal arguements. So for now tuck that away but put a pin in it.
Moving on to page 2 paragraph 4, this is remarkable and striking, Ms Johnson’s Complaint isn’t sugar coating what occurred and the emotional impact of Trump’s alleged sexual assault on her. This also draws a clear line of the power disparity that her “boss” is arguably the “most powerful man on the planet”
“...serious violation of bodily autonomy that can cause victims to experience feelings of physical alarm, fear, shame, guilt, and helplessness. These feelings can be exacerbated when the predator is a boss or other authority figure. And when the predator happens to be one of the most powerful men in the world, the experience can be downright terrifying”
Not to belabor the point, it is clear that Trump has a long documented history of acting like a sexual predator. That women are nothing more than the object of his sexual pleasure and he will take what he wants, when he wants. Irrespective of consent or societal boundaries. Trump does what ever he wants, laws be damned
The invocation of the Trump Campaign pay disparity based on both gender and race is an interesting “injury”...it might be difficult to prove but discovery, specifically interrogatories might substantiate Ms Johnson’s claims. One thing to keep in mind is Ms Johnson filed this complaint in a Federal Court. This means if her complaint is dismissed on a preliminary Motion to Dismiss that does NOT foreclosure her ability to appeal the District Court’s motion, should the District Court dismisses. Unlike State or County/City General District Courts, when a Complaint is dismissed there’s zero guarantee that the plaintiff can file an appeal. In sum when you filed in a Federal Court, you are guaranteed to file an Appeal.
But I’m curious why is Donald so two dimensional, no really go look on page 10 of Ms Johnson’s Complaint. I’m sorry I can’t stop laughing this might be the only picture of Trump that delights me, given he is a loathsome individual...
As you read further into Ms Johnson’s Complaint, it truly paints a picture of a “frat boy mentality” where other campaign staffers made a joke about Trump’s unwanted sexual assault, to that end even Ms Johnson’s female boss made a joke of the incident. Talk about creating & fostering an incredibly hostile work environment. Again it seems like the Campaign was like a fraternity party run amuck. Hardly a professional organization.
With respect to Ms Johnson’s claim that she was disproportionately underpaid, this argument might have merit. For example you can review the Trump Campaign FEC Disbursements to Ms Alva Johnson, here. Based on a quick review of the FEC flings, it is clear that Ms Johnson was paid anywhere from $3,000 per month to $5,000 per month. But I noticed in August of 2016 there was a bit of a pay bump. Also I was unable to locate any 2017 to present disbursements to Ms Johnson. Given the going Trump NDA rate is $15,000 per month.
Trump Organization STOP INVESTIGATING
I swear I thought this was a joke. That the Trump Organization did not have the temerity to tell the House Judiciary to “stop the investigation” us, pay no attention to the steady steam of Russian cash and Russians crawling all over our Properties. But alas this is not a joke, the Trump Org did in fact send a two page letter to Chairman Nadler. How delightfully precious of them. NYET
Trump Org wants @HouseJudiciary to stop its investigations of the company because it hired lawyer Barry Berke, who has written for the case of impeaching Trump, because his law firm has rep the company. The conflict, Trump Org says, “irreparably taints” the committee. pic.twitter.com/RQl45784j5— Kara Scannell (@KaraScannell) February 25, 2019
The purported rationale is one of the recent attorneys hired by Congress some how has a conflict of interest. It is probably one of the worst written and petulant letters I’ve read in a while. To wit Kramer Levin issued a statement regarding today’s Trump Organization letter to Chairman Nadler...this is just another example of how Donald Trump thinks he is above our laws and our Constitution. In furtherance of his scheme to obstruct a Constitutionally permissible act of Congress, that act is Oversight...Kramer Levin issued a statement addressing the Trump Org’s letter which reads in part:
“Indeed, for the past several years the firm’s work has involved only minor tasks for single purpose companies, such as pro forma amendments to condominium offering plans that date back more than a decade or the clearing up of minor building violations for management companies,”
You can read Kramer Levin’s full statement in today’s Washington Post article found here It is interesting that the Trump Org would once again blur the lines of personal versus governmental oversight. You do know what the easy remedy of this would be, right? IT IS CALLED A BLIND TRUST not that bullshit Revocable Trust. That’s not how our Government Ethics work. Seriously FFS we made Carter divest and create a blind trust for his goddamn peanut far, but Trump thinks he’s special. Oh he’s specula alright, he’s a mobbed up two bit snake oil selling con man who’s literally robbing us blind.
Rick Gates Update:
According to a recent Minute Order a peculiar update in Rick Gates’ case:
...reducing the amount of defendant's appearance bond from $5,000,000 to $3,450,000 and permitting travel in accordance with the provisions in the sealed Order (emphasis added)
Guess being an actual cooperating witness has its benefits, your bond gets reduced bigly and you can be free to travel with your family for Spring Break.
Trump Wheels up:
I am sure more breaking news will occur because as we know Trump careens from one scandal to another. The fact he’s up up in the air traveling (probably on the orders of Putin) to his second North Korea Summit...it’s somewhat peaceful knowing that it might be very likely Trump is losing his shit 35,000+ feet in the sky. You can read more about the (not) Nobel Peace Prize summit redux in last night’s entry, found here.
At any rate look for the Cohen update later tonight. Remember that Twitter is a jacked up toxic cesspool (pun absolutely intended). Where Twitter enables criminal and abusive behavior. Trust me, more on that specific topic later because the receipts I pulled are mind bending and make a compelling arguement that Twitter is super fucked. Like Twitter compromised our National Security knowing they had the “code” to filter out bot and troll accounts. Last I checked if you fraudulently submit SEC filings that’s kind of bad, like criminally liable bad, you can not defraud investors. That shit will have feds all up inside your books and audits.. I have a lot of questions about Ev Williams recent stock sales...because he didn’t just resign he pushed them fiduciary eject button. Waves hiya Jack can we talk about the various National Security letters? I have so many questions...
I'm very lucky to have served on the @Twitter board for 12 years (ever since there was a board). It's been overwhelmingly interesting, educational—and, at times, challenging.— Ev Williams (@ev) February 22, 2019
Weird this December 2018 CNBC article about Twitter...Citron Research literally referred to Twitter de-evolution as the “Harvey Weinstein of social media”
“Twitter's failure to effectively tackle violence and abuse on the platform has a chilling effect on freedom of expression online and undermines women's mobilization for equality and justice – particularly groups of women who already face discrimination and marginalization," the study authors wrote.
In its latest Transparency Report, Twitter said fewer than 1 percent of accounts make up the majority of the abuse on its platform.
In addition, the company said it has served as a place for the #MeToo movement and subsequent discussions. More than 17.1 million tweets from more than 90 countries have been posted on Twitter as of Dec. 1.
$TWTR has become Harvey Weinstein of social media. Price tgt $20 Amnesty Intl study cannot be ignored by Wall St. or Madison Ave. $TWTR will be forced to clean up the site and will have a fast impact on MAU https://t.co/LxC8IFLLvp— Citron Research (@CitronResearch) December 20, 2018
Our findings reveal the sheer scale and nature of online abuse faced by women and provides a resource to researchers and engineers interested in exploring the potential of machine learning in content moderation.
7.1% of tweets sent to the women in the study were “problematic” or “abusive”. This amounts to 1.1 million tweets mentioning 778 women across the year, or one every 30 seconds.
Women of colour, (black, Asian, Latinx and mixed-race women) were 34% more likely to be mentioned in abusive or problematic tweets than white women
And lastly never underestimate that you alone have the ability to make a conscious decision to either research the bleep out of things, ergo being part of the solution or to amplify people engaged in criminal behavior. I know where I stand, do you?
Side-note I am famished. Like hangry AF. I’m wondering if I should grab a Ray Burger not to be confused with hamberder. I wonder if Alicia will be my server today. Although my back is killing me today so maybe I just need to make an appointment to have that fixed too. Although that’s a whole lot of weed being photographed and one could make an argument that far exceeds the 30 gram limit..I wonder if are you planning on sharing it?
Personally I’m not a fan of weed but I do know a few people who have or had one helluva Opiod habit. That shopping for Doctors to write you multiple prescriptions and when you didn’t get them you then wrote terrible Yelp reviews. AI’m pretty sure edibles are your thing...wonder if you drive when you’re high...bejesus ...shittlestix I shouldn’t say that. Whoospie. Oops I did it again 😂<snort>
