Trump is Throwing a July 4th Bash — But the ‘Trump Baby’ Balloon May Also Join the Fun

President Trump is planning an all-out celebration of American military power and glamour on July 4, even insisting that there will be tanks at the event.

The president told reporters, “we’re gonna have some tanks stationed outside […] so we have to put them in certain areas but we have the brand new Sherman tanks and we have the brand new Abram tanks,” according to the Washington Post’s Josh Dawsey.

We don’t know exactly what to expect from the event, mainly because America isn’t known for throwing military parades and the July 4 celebrations have usually been apolitical. Trump is expected to give a speech, and the tanks are already in Washington.

But not all the fun that will be bestowed on the nation’s capital will be the work of President Trump. Code Pink — a group that frequently stages protests in D.C. — was granted a permit to display a massive “baby Trump” balloon at the Washington Monument, close to where Trump will throw his celebration. The group has said that they were not permitted to fill the balloon with helium.

And Code Pink won’t be the only ones who are planning to stage a little bit of artsy civil dissent on July 4 in Washington, D.C. Activist Claude Taylor, the founder of Mad Dog PAC, told IJR that he also will be attending a parade in the city, and he’ll be bringing his giant inflatable rat that sports a Trump-esque haircut, tie and cell phone.

If he does see himself rendered as a giant inflatable baby, this won’t be the first time that President Trump has had to encounter that image. The baby balloon was on full display during his recent visit to the United Kingdom.
